Project Manager
We are seeking to appoint a full-time Project manager, with a good level of experience in managing handling responsible for leading the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting for this multisite project and overseeing the daily project activities, ensuring compliance with the project’s funders and operational policies. He/she will be responsible for preparing reports for funders, organizing team meetings (online and in person), and facilitating coordination and communication between the various team members and Work packages. He/she will contribute to monitoring and evaluation, ensuring timely deliverables and appropriate reporting of the Foodborne Disease Surveillance-Ethiopia (FBS-E) project, Haramaya University. The FBS-E project is a collaboration between Haramaya University, the Ethiopian Public Health Institute, Denmark Technical University, Gorge Washington University, and Michigan State University. The post-holder will be responsible for coordination, assisting, and facilitating finance, logistics, human resources, procurement and other project activities.

It is about 17km from the city of Harar, 40km from Dire Dawa (where there is a regional airport), and 510km East of Addis Ababa. The College of Health and Medical Sciences is based on a campus in Harar town to facilitate training of students in nearby hospitals.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The post-holder will be based full-time at Health and Medical Science College of Haramaya University in Harar, Eastern Ethiopia. He/she will be expected to manage staff, maintain accounts, procure equipment, coordinate meetings, prepare reports and minutes, and work with the international and local team.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the overall project Finance, HR, procurement, logistics, fleet management, and administrative matters.
- Prepares and submits quarterly financial reports and cash remittance requests to and from the funders and other stakeholders.
- Prepares annual budget, reviews budget usage, supports PIs on budget preparation, and facilitates all related activities.
- Facilitate and assist procurement locally and internationally, and review the project procurement and inventory management SOP.
- Manage staff, implement staff retention mechanisms, and assist with the overall HRM.
- Follow the cash balance and ensure sufficient cash balance availability in the project bank account.
- Guide and direct project team members to ensure compliance with set standards, procedures, and guidelines.
- Ensure availability of financial, material, and human resources required to complete a project successfully.
- Ensure proper financial management of the project.
- Travel to the project sites for project management and facilitation activities.
- Manage the team in all sites of the FBS-E project
- Responsible for overseeing the development and execution of project deliverables, project planning, budgeting, action plans, and monitoring and evaluation processes.
- Communicate and liaise with the teams in Ethiopia and stakeholders abroad, as well as national and international collaborators.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential requirements
- Master of Business Administration/ Public Administration/ Project Management with seven years of work experience in project management.
- BA degree in Business Administration/ Project Management/ Management, and 10 years of work experience with 4 years in project management.
- Excellent verbal, written, and reading communication skills in English, Amharic, and Afaan Oromo
- Ease of using computers with mastery of application software such as MS Word, MS Windows, and MS Excel.
- Ability to compose professional communication
- Good level of experience in managing internationally funded projects
Desirable requirements
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Management experience (in supervision, training, planning).
- Accounting or budget management experience.
- Ability to collaborate with people, processes, and systems.
