The Academic Assessment and Quality Assurance Directorate conducted training for 45 Academic staff members of Health and Medical Science College from March 18-19, 2016 at Harar campus.

The aim of the training is to build a land mark in the quality assurance of higher education and encompass quality assurance at all levels of education.

The training throw lights on issues such as Academic staffs who engaged in teaching learning activities should be familiar with pedagogical theories and principles of assessment and evaluation. The trainers were from Staff of College of Education and Behavioral Science.

Director of Academic Assessment and Quality Assurance DirectorateDr. Sisay Menkir, stated that Student academic assessment is very important indicator of student’s competency if and only if it is up to standard as well as Academic staffs who engaged in teaching learning activities should be familiar with pedagogical theories and principles of assessment and evaluation.

He further noted that Ethiopia has begun implementing the five years growth and transformation plan that also encompasses quality assurance at all levels of education. To this response, Haramaya University is working to assure and maintain quality and standards of higher education and create quality culture.

Quality in higher education is the most important factor in the country’s endeavors of capacity building for realization of the development goals. So that such training is very crucial for the improvement of higher education quality assurance and quality audit. Dr. Sisay said.
