Haramaya University Delegates Advance Green Transition at EU-Funded Intra-Africa Mobility Meeting
Haramaya University’s Africa Center of Excellence (ACE) officials actively participated in the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Cluster Meeting in Brussels, Belgium, from April 16-17, 2026.
Representing the center were Dr. Bobe Bedadi, Head of Training and Research, and Dr. Mulugeta Damie, Project Manager for ACE Climate SABC at Haramaya University. As delegates for the HU-led COCREATE-Africa project and partner in the CSAS Project, they joined experts and scholars at this high-level forum to shape the future of higher education and regional integration.
The meeting centered on the “Green Transition in Africa,” aligning academic mobility with the European Union’s Global Gateway Strategy. Its core goal: bolstering African higher education institutions’ capacity to lead in climate change adaptation and mitigation, sustainable agri-food systems, and biodiversity conservation.

Dr. Bobe and Dr. Mulugeta engaged deeply in sessions, sharing best practices from Intra-Africa Academic Mobility projects. Key topics included enhancing graduate training and research, strengthening recognition of studies and credits to facilitate student and staff mobility across borders, and translating academic research into practical solutions for Africa’s green transition.

Through these international collaborations, ACE Climate SABC at Haramaya University continues to solidify its role as a center of excellence in climate-smart agriculture and biodiversity conservation, a vital regional hub for training Africa’s next generation of scientists.
