The Research Facilities Management Directorate under the Haramaya University’s Vice President for Research Affairs Office Conducted training for technical and field research assistants and station
According to the coordinator of the training, Ato Suleymen Abdureman, the training was organized for enhancing technical and practical skills of the participants effective management of field-based experiment and data collection.
In addition, the training is expected to increase awareness of the participants with regard to research ethics and associated duties and responsibilities of technical assistants and station managers. And also created an opportunity for the participants to share experience of the resource persons who have down to earth practical research skills.
On the closing remark, Ato Ibsa Aliyi, Director of Research Facilities Management Directorate, said Haramaya University is one of the eight research universities designated by Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
Ato Ibsa indicated that the quality and validity of research out puts is highly affected by the quality of data generated from laboratory and field experiments as well as the skill and knowledge of field and technical assistant’s proper implementation of experiments. In this regard, a continuous hand on training like this has immense contribution, he said.
Among the trainees, Shame Ahmed from Main Campus; Abrahim Tofik from Gurawa & kurfa Research Center; Azeb Tegenu from Babile Research Station said that the training equipped them to overcome their professional problems & acquired new practical research ideas (skills) and they thanked Haramaya University for providing all the necessary assistance.
The Office of Vice President for Research Affairs organizes similar skill enhancement short training events regularly as a means to enhance knowledge and competences of researchers and technical assistants.
The training was held at the Resource Center, Main Campus from June 30 to July 3, 2021.
