Haramaya University women, children and youth affairs Directorate has provided training from February 18 to 19, 2022 to Haramaya University female students as a part of its efforts to increase women’s participation, and leadership skills.

The training is part of the Gender Inclusive University project ፡ Presidential Mentorship Program which aims to train female students in higher education.

Indicating that training has been provided to 100 female students who scored over 2.5 grade points, Mrs. Kedja Abdulkadir, Haramaya University Women, Children and Youth Affairs Directorate Director,  said that the training is unique because it has been designed on the basis of practical activities that help more to enhance the understanding level of the trainees’ leadership skills.

Ms. Mastewal Derara, a lecturer at the Department of Sociology in Haramaya University, said during the training that the trainees have been sharing leadership related knowledge and experience gained during the training to one another as the purpose of this training has been to enhance female students’ leadership skills. “Because we believe,” said Ms. Mastewal “Everyone is a leader”. Therefore, the training aimed at recognizing and empowering the trainees to exploit and use their leadership skills.
