Haramaya University has entered into a collaboration with the Federal Environmental Protection Authority to work on the National Measuring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) Capacity Building Project. Chosen as one of the three universities by the EPA, HU will have a crucial role in the project, which is designed to strengthen Ethiopia’s ability to transparently participate in climate-resilient development.

The National MRV Capacity Building Project includes important activities such as short-term training in Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use (AFOLU) as well as MRV-related fields for professionals from federal and regional institutions. In addition, research will be conducted to produce empirical data and methods for MRV implementation at the national level.

During the signing ceremony, Dr. Yishak Yusuf, Vice President for Research and Community Engagement at HU, expressed the university’s commitment to implementing the stipulated activities in the MOU.

Mr. Nigusu Lema, Deputy of EPA, emphasized the agency’s determination to collaborate with higher education institutions, such as Haramaya University, to advance the nation’s development.
