Haramaya University Empowers Academic Staff with Grant Proposal Development Training
Haramaya University has taken a significant step towards bolstering its research capacity by conducting a comprehensive Grant Proposal Development Training for its academic staff.
Organized by the Office of Research Affairs, the training aimed to equip faculty members with the essential skills needed to effectively develop and submit successful grant proposals.
Dr. Deribachew Bekana, Director of Research Affairs, during his welcome address emphasized the university’s unwavering commitment to elevating its research activities and cultivating a robust research culture. He reiterated the institution’s dedication to supporting its staff in achieving research excellence, a crucial step towards attaining autonomy as a leading research university.
Furthermore, he highlighted the critical role of securing external funding through compelling grant proposals to supplement the limited research budget allocated by the government.
Dr. Yishak Yusuf, the Vice President for Research and Community Engagement, further emphasized the pivotal role of the training in empowering university staff to proactively seek funding for their research endeavors. He stressed that securing increased research funds necessitates the development of high-quality, grant-winning proposals, often achieved through strategic partnerships and collaborations.
Dr. Yishak also announced the Office of Research Affairs’ commitment to the continuous professional development of its researchers through the ongoing provision of such capacity-building training sessions.
The training program provided participants with in-depth knowledge across the spectrum of grant proposal writing. Key areas covered included identifying relevant funding opportunities, crafting persuasive and impactful proposals, and navigating the intricacies of submission protocols.
Participants actively engaged in interactive workshops that incorporated practical, hands-on exercises designed to solidify their learning and build confidence in their proposal writing abilities.
