Haramaya University Conducts Grant Writing and Management Training to Bolster Research Capacity

Haramaya University recently organized a two-day training workshop on “Grant Writing and Management” for its academic staff and researchers.

This initiative is particularly timely as Haramaya University prepares for its transition to Autonomous status, a shift that demands diversified income sources and heightened professional competencies among its staff.

He noted that while researchers previously sought funding through isolated, individual efforts, the establishment of a dedicated directorate now fosters a more collaborative environment.

With more than 20 faculty members from his college in attendance, Dr. Sileshi emphasized that the training is vital for translating academic knowledge into practical solutions.

Winning research grants is about more than just funding; it is about bringing resources into the university to conduct research that solves pressing local and national problems, Dr. Sileshi remarked.
