Haramaya University College of Law Excels in National Moot Court Competitions

Haramaya University’s College of Law recently showcased its legal prowess, with two teams selected to compete in prestigious national moot court competitions.

Ms. Meklit Aytenfsu, Mr. Gutema Tsegaye, and Mr. Adonay GetanehA team comprising LL.B students Ms. Meklit Aytenfsu, Mr. Gutema Tsegaye, and Mr. Adonay Getaneh, coached by Assistant Lecturer Mr. Tajir Yoseph, was among only twelve law schools chosen for the 9th Ethiopian National Moot Court Competition. Their selection was based on the quality of their written memorials.

Separately, LL.B students Ms. Hasset Daniel, Ms. Meklit Aytenfsu, and Mr. Bikila Girmaye, coached by Assistant Lecturer Mr. Habtamu Siweya, represented the college in the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Moot Court Competition. Only six law schools nationwide qualified for this competition, again based on their written submissions.

Dr. Richard emphasized that qualifying for these esteemed competitions is a testament to the students’ hard work, intellectual ability, and drive. The College of Law is immensely proud of their accomplishments and their representation of Haramaya University on a national stage.
