Haramaya University was represnteted in the 2014 UNESCO Youth Conference held on  7-9 November in Okayama, Japan and on 10-12 November, Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

Mohammed Aman Ogeto, a lecturer and researcher at School of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, was selected as a drafting committee member for Social Entrepreneurship theme by UNESCO and Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology of Japan (MEXT).
The selection process was based on involvement in the education community, interest, passion, and dedication to get all children in school and learning. For this, Mohammed’s published articles on ‘Entrepreneurship attitude of Agribusiness and Value Chain Management (ABVM) at Haramaya University: Promises or practices of modularization’ and ‘Perception of summer cooperative graduates on employers Generic skill preference, Haramaya University’ and active participation on the UNESCO ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) conference held in Japan, representing Ethiopia, contributed a lot for his selection.

A World at School, a global organization operated by UK, certified Mohammed with a title ‘a Global Youth Ambassador’ for the period of December 1, 2014- October 31, 2015. He said this made him to be a fellow ambassador with the 2014 noble peace prize winner Malala Yousafzai and others around the world.

More than 5,000 youth from 180 countries applied for the UNESCO ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) youth conference. Finally, 52 youth who actively engaged in ESD were selected.
