Two Haramaya University students won the 2015 Ethiopian Physics Society in North America (EPS-NA) Award in a ceremony that held on February 13, 2015 in Addis Ababa University Arat Killo Campus.

Melese Nigussie and Jemal Assen, both 3rd year physics students, were amongst the prize Winners. The candidates were selected in terms of their academic and/or research excellence beside extracurricular activities and services rendered to the community, according to Dr. Getachew Abebe, dean of College of Natural and Computational Sciences.
Dr.Getachew added that 5 students won the award from 4 universities, 2 from HU, 1 from AAU, 1 from Debre Birihan University, and 1 from Deber Markos University.

This year five awardees, including the students from HU, got recognition and USD 250 prize.
They received the prize on Feb. 13, 2015 at the closing ceremony of 2015 EPS annual meeting held in Addis Ababa Arat Killo Campus.

Starting from few years back, Ethiopian Physics Society in North America (EPS-NA) yearly awards Ethiopian Physics students (both post and undergraduate) who excel in their studies, research and community services on competitive basis. The announcement is made to students so that they can submit their academic records, published research paper, if there is any, and evidence testifying their involvement in non-academic activities and community services.
The Department of Physics and CNCS have extended their heartfelt congratulation to the awardees.
