Haramaya University’s Community Radio, HU FM 91.5, took the second position in the 2nd Students’ Journalism Award which took place today at Addis Ababa’s United States Embassy. Students from Mekelle and Hawassa universities finished 1st and 3rd respectively.

Endalkachew Abebe, who represented Haramaya University and graduates this year from College of Veterinary Medicine, made a story on the late Haramaya Lake. He included various stakeholders to enrich his story, which was nicely narrated and edited. Endalkachew was awarded a digital photo camera.

It is to be recalled that last year in the premier Students’ Journalism Award, two volunteers of HU FM 91.5 took the 2nd and 3rd position. It was disclosed and praised by the organizers of the award ceremony that more than half of the total submissions of the competition entries came from HU FM 91.5. Similarly, in this year’s competition, HU FM 91.5 volunteers sent more than 30 entries both in Amharic as well as in Afan Oromo languages.
