Hararghe Health Research laboratory got accredited

The Hararghe Health Research (HHR) laboratory, located in Haramaya University College of Health and Medical Sciences, has been accredited for ISO/IEC 15189:2012.

This is a major achievement for the laboratory, which is one of only five in Ethiopia to be accredited to this standard.

The accreditation process was rigorous and involved a comprehensive assessment of the laboratory’s operations and procedures. The assessors were impressed with the laboratory’s commitment to quality and its high standards of practice.

The accreditation of the HHR laboratory is a significant milestone for the university and for the country. It demonstrates the university’s commitment to excellence in research and its ability to deliver world-class healthcare services.

The accreditation will also help to raise the profile of the HHR laboratory and attract more research funding. This will ultimately benefit the people of Ethiopia by helping to improve healthcare outcomes and reduce child mortality.

Professor Nega Assefa PI of CHAMPS Ethiopia project explained the HHR laboratory accreditation increased visibility and trust in the work that is being done in this laboratory. It could be a starting point for the process of getting international accreditation and attract more research funding for improved healthcare outcomes and reduced child mortality.
