The Ethiopian Diplomat said Sudan and Egypt should be willing to negotiate on the issue of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissan.Ambassador Ibrahim Idris, a negotiating expert and diplomat for the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam availed himself in the inauguration of Awash and Wabi Shebele Basin and the National Workshop on the current status of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam conducted by Haramaya University on august 12 and 13, 2021 at Afrenqallo hole in Haramaya University.

In the event, Ambassador Ibrahim, briefed the participants on the interests of Sudan and Egypt, and Ethiopia’s firm belief in the common use of the river. While presenting detailed information about the dam, Ambassador Ibrahim said, “Sudan and Egypt should be willing to negotiate on the issue of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam”.

As ambassador Ibrahim said it, the two countries have not lost sight of Ethiopia’s right to use the river, but they are seeking to dominate the Nile water by exerting a global influence on Ethiopia after taking the issue to the UN Security Council. However, Ethiopia still believes that the issue of Africa needs to be resolved by Africans themselves.

Citing the diplomatic achievements of Ethiopia, Ambassador Ibrahim also stressed the need for united actions and efforts of all Ethiopians to complete the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam despite our internal problems.

According to Ambassador Ibrahim, not only the ordinary citizens but also scholars should exert their effort in different directions with the government to show Ethiopia’s stand for equitable access of the Nile water to the world.

Finally, during his stay at Haramaya University, ambassador Ibrahim planted seedlings to support the green development footprint.
