The Administrative Board of Haramaya University Conferred an Academic rank of full Professor in Agronomy to Dr. Tamado Tana.

Dr. Tamado Tana was born in 1967 in Wolaita Zone, southern Ethiopia. He pursued his Secondary education at Wolaita Sodo Comprehensive Secondary School, BSc Degree in Plant Sciences and MSc Degree in Agronomy at Haramaya University, and his PhD degree in Agronomy at Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Sweden.

Dr. Tamado Tana has served the Haramaya University as instructor and researcher for about 25 years. During these years, he has taught 12 different courses to BSc, MSc and PhD programs all in very good standards and prepared five teaching materials. He has also successfully advised 122 MSc and 14 PhD students.

He has undertaken a number of nationally and externally funded research projects on groundnut, enset, invasive weeds etc and has produced a number of recommendations and authored/co-authored 60 articles on reputable international and national journals. Moreover, he has presented a number of papers in national and international scientific conferences.

With regards to the community service, he has given a number of short-term trainings and consultancy to agricultural offices, non-governmental organizations and researchers in various topics. Moreover, he has served in various national committees in his field of expertise. Dr. Tamado has also served as an Academic Programs Officer of Haramaya University and as founding president of Wolaita Sodo University.
