The College of Health and Medical Sciences of Haramaya University has held its 3rd graduation commencement on 25 December, 2015 colorfully.

A total of 141 medical doctors have graduated and received their degrees from the guests of honor of the ceremony at Harar campus. After exhaustive studies of six years, the graduates have taken Hippocratic Oath to serve the community with their profession. Among the total graduates 48 of them were female students.

On the occasion, State Minister of Education Dr. Kaba Urgessa stated even if the country is registering an encouraging result in the health sector, more remains to be done. He added that to ensure the 2nd transformational plan under way, keeping health of the society is mandatory since only healthy generation can build a country.

One of the Guest of the ceremony Mr. Murad Abdulhadi, president of the Harari Regional State, on his part of speech, he urged graduates to contribute their level best to fulfill the development goal in the health sector.

During this colorful ceremony, Prof. Chemeda Fininsa, President of Haramaya University and the Guest of Honors, congratulated the graduates and their parents for being successful in their effort and reach this day of happiness. He urged the graduates to implement the knowledge and skills they gained from the University appropriately in the field that they will be engaged after graduation and bring about a significant change and development to this country of ours which is striving to develop.

Prof. Chemeda Fininsa, added the collage is a spearhead in improving health services in the country through training health professionals and undertaking thematic researches. He also added that creating a healthy community is indispensible to sustain the ongoing development in the nation. Finally, he addressed the gathering that university will strive to increase this goal and is working to alleviate the challenges in the community.

The graduation ceremony came to its end by awarding prizes to those students who showed an outstanding performance during their stay in the University. Graduates on their parts said that, they are ready to serve the community with strong commitment.
