Haramaya University donated medical supplies to East Command Referral Hospital of Ministry of Defense on December 22, 2021.

At the donation occasion, Dr. Jamal Yusuf, President of Haramaya University, stated that the University has donated medical supplies such as medicines and medical equipment worth more than 1.4 million birr to East Command Referral Hospital.

Dr. Jamal added that not only the university but also its employees (teachers and administrators) have donated more than 63 million birr from their monthly salary. The University has also provided Dire Dawa area Defense force with medical services and uniforms.

Receiving the donation from the university, Lt. Col. Kebebew Higu, the deputy head of the Eastern Command Health Department, thanked the University for this Donation and previous financial and medical support. He also noted that this donation is very important to the hospital as it is gained in the needed time.

Lt. Col. Kebebew also explained that the Hospital and the emergency rooms at Haramaya University are providing medical services to the members of the Defense Forces and such self-initiated supports of the people and the institutions enable the defense force to fulfill its responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
