Haramaya University Office of Vice President for Academic Affairs facilitated an orientation session to new regular undergraduate (freshman) students on July 21, 2021 at Main Campus in at Afren Kelo Hall.

The orientation focused on the University’s services to be rendered to the students throughout their stay in the University. The main purpose of the orientation is to inform the students that the University will work tirelessly to ensure that they are useful citizens with good behavior and full personality and that they should play their part responsibly.

Professor Mengistu Urge, Vice President for Academic Affairs, said since its establishment Haramaya University has provided a lot of professionals and scientists serving in Africa as well as other parts of the world.

Professor Mengistu added that although there are various issues that can confuse new students when they come to university but students can use their time wisely, making adequate preparations in order to achieve their goals.
The Vice President advised the students to take precautionary measures to protect themselves as well as their friends and the community from the current pandemic, Covid 19.

On behalf of Freshman Program Directorate, Dr. Getachew Teshome welcomed the students and congratulated them on securing a place to study in the premier University that is recognized as one of the research and post graduate universities in Ethiopia.
Dr.Getachew said the students were instructed to follow the University’s instructions and to continue their studies. He further added that the University has set up a special education program to compensate for the one year lost due to Covid 19.
According to the schedule, students will start their studies on Monday, July 19, 2013 as soon as they complete their registration this week.
Registrar, Office of Student Services, Gender Office, Library, Special Needs Support Centre, Campus Security and other units of the HU briefed their services and requirements to the new students and all of them wished the new entrants a happy stay in the University.
