Haramaya University Supports Deborah Foundation’s Dairy Farming Initiative
Haramaya University has extended institutional support to the Deborah Foundation in its effort to establish a dairy farming project aimed at enhancing sustainability and nutrition.

The Deborah Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to promoting inclusion, dignity, and quality of life for children with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities.

A delegation from Haramaya University, led by Dr. Ketema Bekele, Director of University Enterprise Development, paid a courtesy visit to the Foundation on 19th December 2025 to strengthen collaborative engagement.

The delegation was formally received by the Founder and Chairperson of the Deborah Foundation, Mr. Abadulla Gemeda, who also guided the visit.

As part of the Foundation’s plan to achieve self-sufficiency for its forthcoming school feeding program, a dairy farm initiative has been launched. In support of this effort, Haramaya University donated five dairy cows valued at 1.25 million Birr.

The donation was officially handed over to Mr. Abadulla Gemeda, who expressed deep appreciation for the University’s sustained commitment. He noted that the support plays a significant role in advancing the Foundation’s mission and long-term vision.

“This generous contribution from Haramaya University represents a transformative milestone for our Foundation,” Mr. Abadulla stated, emphasizing its impact on community-based development and social welfare.

In recognition of the University’s contribution, Mr. Abadulla Gemeda presented an official certificate of appreciation to Haramaya University, acknowledging its outstanding role in supporting inclusive development initiatives.
