Haramaya University Participates in the 20th Technical and Advisory Meeting for Eastern and Southern Africa Centers of Excellence

Haramaya University is represented at the 20th Technical and Advisory Meeting for Eastern and Southern Africa Centers of Excellence, convened by the Inter-University Council for East Africa from December 8 to 11, 2025, at Speke Resort in Kampala, Uganda.

The delegation from Haramaya University comprises the President, Dr. Jemal Yousuf; the Deputy Center Leader, Dr. Bobe Bedadi; and the Project Manager, Dr. Mulugeta Damie representing the ACE Climate SABC, engages with regional university leaders, government officials, and World Bank delegates to strengthen collaboration, advance research, and promote sustainable regional development.

The forum brings together representatives from Centres of Excellence, Vice Chancellors and Presidents of host universities, government officials across the region, and representatives of the World Bank.

During the forum comprehensive discussions on sharing information and best practices regarding project contributions; enhancing university–industry linkages to ensure sustainability; improving environmental and social risk management; strengthening financial management and procurement processes; and advancing communication and dissemination of project results raised. Moreover, participants are apprised of new project opportunities aimed at fostering regional development and innovation.

ACE Climate SABC – Haramaya University has been accorded an exhibition booth to present its diverse research activities alongside complementary projects that underpin the long-term sustainability of the Centre.

The platform facilitates engagement with stakeholders, promotes networking with peer institutions, and highlights the Centre’s ongoing accomplishments.

The Centre extends its profound appreciation to the World Bank, IUCEA, government entities, the University’s leadership, fellow Centres of Excellence, and all partners for providing this vital platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the advancement of regional cooperation.
