Haramaya University & University of Minnesota
Ethiopia & United States · Bilateral Research & Education Partnership
This partnership unites Haramaya University in eastern Ethiopia with the University of Minnesota in the United States, forming a bilateral collaboration dedicated to agricultural research, food systems innovation, and higher education exchange. Since its establishment, both institutions have co-developed academic programmes, conducted joint field research supporting smallholder farming communities, and facilitated the exchange of faculty and graduate students across continents.
The collaboration draws on Haramaya University's deep roots in Ethiopian agriculture and rural development alongside the University of Minnesota's world-class research capacity in food science, agronomy, and international development — creating a partnership greater than the sum of its parts.
