Haramaya University has entered into a strategic partnership with the FAO eLearning Academy to advance Ethiopia’s agricultural innovation and digital transformation. This collaboration provides Haramaya University access to more than 350 free multilingual courses, enabling students, researchers, and professionals to strengthen their knowledge in areas such as climate-smart agriculture, sustainable food systems, and human capital development. The partnership is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those addressing food security, climate action, and biodiversity, and was formalized in Rome as part of FAO’s global academic network.
FOCUS AREA
The working areas of this partnership include digital agriculture, where data-driven advisory tools are piloted to support farmers, and agroecology, which promotes resilient farming practices. It also emphasizes student mobility, internships, and staff exchanges to build expertise, while fostering joint research seminars and collaborative projects.Through FAO’s Office of Innovation, Haramaya University is strengthening its institutional transformation and positioning itself as a hub for agricultural research and innovation in Ethiopia.
