Background

The Director for Community Engagement and Industry Linkage shall be accountable to the Vice President for Research and Community Engagement and perform the following duties.
• ensure the availability, proper allocation and efficient utilization of resources necessary for effective Community Engagement;
• deliver demand-driven, problem-solving, cost-effective and impactful community services;
• develop clear road maps and guidelines to establish a university-community engagement and industry linkage approach/model for engagement;
• disseminate research results, technologies and best practices to the community
• strengthen university-industry linkages for mutual benefits;
• coordinate, monitor and evaluate the performance of the various service units of the university concerning community engagement and industry linkages;
• develop policies and guidelines in collaboration with relevant colleges and institutions and following up its proper implementation;
• promote, support and facilitate staff’s and students’ engagement in community development activities and industry linkages through different mechanisms such as practicum, internship, externship and Community-Based Training;
• strengthen community services through Community-Based Education (CBE);
• create accessible and affordable education opportunities for local communities, ensuring their children receive quality education;
• establish a model or state-of-the-art community school to create a creative learning environment for the community, particularly for teachers and students;
• facilitate and lead the capacity building training, awareness creation workshops, consultancy, and technology transfer activities that can solve the existing industrial problems;
• develop, facilitate and motivate the execution of community projects and Services and industry linkages;
• ensure that community engagement and industry linkage are cascaded to college/Institute/Academy level;
• arrange opportunities in the industry for practical experience for students;
• advise the University management in the areas of community engagement and Industry Linkages;
• establish partnerships and linkages with stakeholders working for effective community engagement;
• strengthen community-Based Education through supporting TTP (Team Training Program) and CBTP (Community-based Training Program);
• facilitate the documentation, promotion and dissemination of the research and technology outputs through different knowledge-sharing activities;
• establish, strengthen and expand the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Centre; and
• provide regular practical oriented and high-quality education and training (hands-on laboratory-based training) in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to promote children's and young people's perspectives on STEM
