Background

The Department of Special Needs and Inclusive Education was established in 2008 under the Collage of Education and Behavioral Sciences, Haramaya University. The department was established to produce competent and dynamic graduates in the field of special needs and inclusive education who could spearhead the growth of this discipline throughout the country. Also, it is one of the pertinent departments of the university with the objectives of providing teaching on human mind and behavior, trainings, research and community services. Since then, it has been growing in leaps and bounds.  Now the department has a degree curriculum program entitled Bachelor of Arts Degree in Special Needs and Inclusive Education (BA), Masters of Arts Degree in Special Needs and Inclusive Education (MA) and PhD in Education (Inclusive Education Stream). Currently, the department runs two postgraduate programs and one undergraduate program in Regular, and summer.
