This theme encompasses engineering and information technologies, energy, manufacturing, metal industry, power industry, food analysis, agricultural machinery, and emerging research areas.

It identifies a number of technology missions for significant targeted investment in key fields vital for the growth of Ethiopia's agricultural, health, and industrial sectors. Emphasizing engineering and information technology platforms, research focuses on technologies for manufacturing and leveraging resource-based industries such as agriculture, fishing, forestry, mining, power industries, and minerals/energy production.

Key areas of research include Information and Communications Technology (ICT), farm implements, farm power and agricultural machinery, manufacturing and resource-based industries, power, and emerging research domains such as nanotechnology and synthetic biology.
