A lowland station built for orchard and field trials
Erer Berkele Research Station is located in the Babile district of the eastern Hararege zone of Oromia region, Eastern Ethiopia, roughly 45 km from Haramaya University's main campus. The station's lower elevation and warmer climate make it a natural complement to the university's highland fields, giving researchers a second growing environment within reach of the same faculty and labs.
Seven permanent staff manage day-to-day trial work across the station's more than 30 hectares, supporting long-running variety trials in mango and other fruit crops alongside row-crop research plots.
