1. MSc. in Adult Health Nursing Specialty

Hold a BSc degree from a recognized university or college in Nursing.

  • Good academic record in BSc program (CGPA ≥2.60)
  • Sponsorship letter, CV with application letter, and 3 letters of references/recommendations from immediate supervisors, and colleagues which attested acceptable professional conduct
  • Candidates should have at least one-year work experience after the BSc award
  • Must pass the entrance exam (written and interview examination) prepared to assess the individual’s competencies and preparedness to pursue a graduate program
  • Candidates must satisfy all requirements set forth by Haramaya University.

2. MSc. in Maternity and Neonatal Nursing

  • Fulfil common regulations and requirements for master’s degree of Haramaya University / higher learning institution.
  • Have an acceptable earned baccalaureate degree in nursing or midwifery
  • Physically fit for nursing service.
  • Candidates should have at least two years of work experience after the BSc award and should have acceptable professional conduct attested by references.
  • Must pass entrance exam by scoring at least 50% of both written and oral examinations prepared to assess the individual’s competencies and preparedness to pursue a graduate program.
  • Admission may take place directly for those legally send from recognized governmental universities or colleges until the recommendation letter was sent from the university or college they attended.

3. MSc. in Pediatrics and Child Health Nursing

  • Graduate of BSc in Comprehensive, Pediatrics, Neonatal Nursing, Emergency and critical care, Medical, Surgical, Psychiatric Nursing, and Midwifery from a recognized college or University with CGPA of 2.0 and above
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical or teaching experience after BSc degree
  • A sponsorship letter from sponsoring institution is mandatory. In a situation when Self-sponsor are allowed by HrU legislation, it will be considered according to the university rule and regulation.
  • All applicants should submit the necessary academic credentials to postgraduate/registrar offices in person or online.
  • Two recommendation letters. These may be Both from professionals/academics who can attest to the applicant’s professional ability, or One academic and one professional letter of recommendation.
  • Must pass the entrance exam prepared to assess the individual’s competencies and preparedness to pursue a graduate program.
  • The applicants will be admitted on a competitive basis (when the number of applicants who fulfill the requirements exceeds the intake capacity).
  • Self-sponsored or international students should pay application, registration, tuition fee, and other necessary fees based on the University’s regulation, while sponsored student should present their letter.

 4. MSc. in Clinical Midwifery

  • Hold BSc. degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized university/college with a minimum of two-years relevant work experience.
  • Hold BSc. degree in Veterinary Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, Biology, and other Medical and Health professionals from recognized university/college and willing to take some basic clinical laboratory courses given to undergraduate Medical Laboratory Sciences students.
  • Physically and mentally healthy to fit the program. Applicants with minor physical problems that would not hinder effective teaching should be considered into the department based on Article 100; sub-article100.1.6.
  • Applicants should fulfill other requirements of HU.

5. MSc. in Integrated Clinical and Community Mental Health (ICCMH)

  • The minimum admission requirements to join the master’s degree in integrated clinical and community mental health (M.Sc. in ICCMH):
  • General practitioner (medical doctor)
  • BSc in public health
  • BSc in Psychiatric Nursing
  • BSc in Nursing
  • BSc in Midwifery
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience; if academic staff, based on HrU legislation.
  • The maximum age of the candidate shall be 40 at the time of Admission
  • The candidate should provide two recommendation letters from academic and administrative references
  • The candidate must pass the entrance examination (may include both written and oral) and the pass mark shall be 60%.
  • The candidate must fulfill criteria set by the senate legislation for postgraduate admission of the HU.
