Background
The Department of Software Engineering was started in 2008, structured under the College of Computing and Informatics. The department has been launched in response the national demands for skilled and professional work force in the field of software development. Thus, the department is primarily tasked with training software engineers, based on a harmonized curriculum that takes a four-year learning. The department is further strengthened by the Departments of Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Science and Statistics in the college.
Objectives
- To provide quality education and training to students, thereby cultivating their skills, confidence and commitment to serve themselves and the country better;
- To respond to the Government of Ethiopia’s policy of increasing trained manpower, thereby reducing the shortage of skilled manpower that are required for the development needs of the nation in different organizations; and
- To provide quality community services to communities and institutions surrounding the university.
