Admission requirements for Undergraduate studies based on Criteria set by Ministry of education

1. MSc in Veterinary Epidemiology

  • Degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and BVSc with a CGPA of 2.00and above
  • Preferably two years of work experience after a DVM degree and BVSc(but not obligatory)
  • A testimony of financial support,
  • At least two letters of recommendation, preferably from the candidate's undergraduate instructors, employers and professional associations,
  • If the applicant is employed, he/she has to provide a certificate of full release for the whole study period.
  • Take and pass entrance examination (written &/or oral) that evaluates the candidate’s academic and attitudinal preparation to pursue a postgraduate study.

3. MSc in Veterinary Microbiology

  • He or she must be a holder of DVM, BVSc, VLT, in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree in medical fields (such as MD).
  • Apart from the above mentioned areas, holders of a bachelor degree in related medical fields and other life sciences can also apply for the program. However, applicants must have previous concepts on; Microbiology (covering bacteriology, virology, mycology, immunology), general animal/human pathology, depending on the courses previously taken by the applicants. Applicants must audit not credited and take the above mentioned bridge courses with undergraduate veterinary students.
  • Applicants should preferably have two years of work experience
  • Two letters of recommendation, e.g. from the candidate’s undergraduate instructors, employer or other professional institutions
  • If the applicant is employed, he has to provide a certificate of full release for the whole study period.
  • The applicant must prove that he has the financial resources to finance the program.

4. MSc in Veterinary Public Health

The MSc program in Veterinary Public Health will be open to qualified candidates with:

  • A baccalaureate (BSc) or a professional (DVM, MD, and Health Sciences) degree from a recognized institution in Ethiopia.
  • Applicants trained outside Ethiopia should hold equivalent degrees from a recognized institution whose standards for the baccalaureate or professional degrees are substantially equivalent to those at Haramaya University are admitted without any requirement.
  • BSc in Animal science, BSc in Biology, BVSc, and VLT admitted to the program are required to take some bridging courses from the undergraduate program based on the first degree credentials of the candidate.
