1. Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the program, the department needs students who:
- Would successfully complete the Secondary School program;
- Have fitting result in the Higher Education Entrance Examination;
- Have good a command of Afan Oromo;
- Have an interest in studying the Oromo language and culture in general;
- Could suit the general admission requirements of the University.
2.Graduation Requirements
The graduates must fulfil the following requirements:
- A cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00.
- A major GPA of 2.00
- Completion of 112CrHr/ 182 ECTS of major area courses and 35 CrHr/ 61 ECTS of freshman courses which accounts the total of 147 CrHr /243 ECTS.
- A senior essay write-up as a partial fulfilment for the requirement of BA degree.
- Minimum ‘C’ grade in senior essay (SRP) and CBTP
3. Degree Nomenclature
The degree for graduates of the department shall be named as: “Digrii Baachilarii Aartii Afaan Oromoo, Ogumaafi Qunnamtiin” in Afaan Oromoo which has an equivalent meaning with "Bachelor of Arts Degree in Afaan Oromoo, Literature and Communication" in English and “የአርት ባችለር ዲግሪ በአፋን ኦሮሞ፣ስነጽሑፍና ስነተግባቦት” in Amharic.
