III.AREA OF EXPERTISE

Area of my research interest includes issues related to Environmental Land Use Planning, Climate Change, GIS and Remote Sensing, and particularly on Soil carbon storage and climate change mitigation, Quantifying soil carbon emission from different agricultural land use and management types, spatial modelling of soil carbon emission and storage under  complex agricultural landscapes.

  • Teaching GIS and Remote Sensing course for PhD students at Africa Centre of Excellence in Climate Smart Agriculture and Biodiversity Conservation (CSABC).
  • Teaching GIS and Remote Sensing for PhD students (specialized in Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management) at School of Geography and Environmental Studies
  • Teaching GIS and Remote Sensing course for MSc Students at College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Africa Centre of Excellence in CSABC, and School of Geography and Environmental Studies.
  • Teaching MSc courses (Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, Disaster Risk and Early Warning System, Applied Geomorphology and Land Use Planning and Land Evaluation) at School of Geography and Environmental Studies.
  • Served as team member in drafting the new PhD curriculum in Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management) launched at the School of Geography and Environmental Studies, Haramaya University.
  • Provided professional assistant for the development of PhD and MSc curricula at Africa Centre of Excellence in Climate Smart Agriculture and Biodiversity Conservation, Haramaya University.
  • Currently, principal investigator of the research project (Soil Carbon Storage inventories) in Lake Haramaya Catchment, funded by the  Research Affaires of the Haramaya University.
