 University Enterprises Director: June 2019 – till now.

Since my appointment to the position of university enterprise director, I have been managing the huge directorate office of the university. The directorate office manages different large research, production and community service facilities of the university - agricultural Development Coordination office (Dairy Farm, Poultry Farm, Beef Farm, Farm Machinery, Forage, Seed and Agronomy); Resource center and Recreational services coordination office (Restaurant, Bedrooms, Meeting Hall, Gymnasium and Swimming Pool);Rental Houses and Shopping Services office; and Training and Consultancy Services.

HU-IOM Project Coordinator: April 1, 2018 till now.

On top of the directorateship position, I am the coordinator of HU-IOM project which has a budget of Birr 9.42 million. It’s a one-year project (April 1, 2018 – March 30, 2019) on returnees reintegration in East Hararghe Zone of Oromia National Regional State of Ethiopia. I and other colleagues from Haramaya University won a competitive based project call and currently implementing it with International Organization for Migration (IOM), The UN Migration Agency. The project is EU-IOM Joint Initiative on Migration Protection and Reintegration in the Horn of Africa. The project has been implemented by multi-professionals from the university and different concerned zonal and district offices such as Labor and Social Affairs, Women, Children and Youth Affairs, Cooperative Development and Promotion, Industry and Enterprise Development and TVETs.

Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics:

After my PhD award on July 10, 2018, I reinstated to the position of Assistant Professor in the School of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness and have been engaged in advising and teaching postgraduate students in different schools in Haramaya University.

Socio-economic researcher in a multidisciplinary international research-based project: August 2015 – till now.

After an open call for the position in socio-economic researcher in R4D project “Woody invasive alien species in East Africa: assessing and mitigating their negative impacts on ecosystem services and rural livelihoods”, I have been a researcher in the project (refer to http://woodyweeds.org/?page_id=359).

PhD candidate in Agricultural Economics:  October 05, 2012 – June 09, 2018.

During the first two coursework years, I have taken different advanced agricultural economics courses including Advanced Research Methodology, Advanced Econometrics, Advanced Environmental and Natural Resources Economics, Advanced Marketing, Advanced Macroeconomics and Advanced Microeconomics. After completing coursework, I have been conducting research for my PhD dissertation as a component of woody weeds project research work in East Africa. In the project, I have been a socio-economic researcher in which different international researchers are from other disciplines. Being multidisciplinary research-based project, the aim of woody weeds was assessing and mitigating the impacts of woody invasive alien species on ecosystem services and livelihoods in east Africa. With this general objective, I have been the only socio-economic researcher to have ample experience in data collection and analyses from different countries in east Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania), and data integration research works from different discipline researchers.

December 5, 2008 onwards research advising undergraduate students and lecturing different management and development courses at College of Business and Economics.
