To this end, the Library has designed this three years strategic plan.<\/p>\n<p>On the same stride, all these expansions of library buildings in HU are a means to address the current highest ever student enrollment and to make available adequate space both for brining collections and ICT Infrastructure In short, it is means to achieve the ultimate mission of the university by solving the existing space problem and by accommodating future needs of the library and its users.<\/p>\n\t<h3>\n\t\t\t\t\tBackground of HU Library and Information Services\n\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\tThe university\u2019s main library building was constructed before half a century as it was the basic element to commence the then Imperial College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts in 1953,later called the Alemaya College, and now Haramaya University (HU). Since then the main library has been providing services to students and staff.\nAn anexe to the main library was built seven years ago. And, currently branch libraries, graduate students library, Female students Library, Harar campus library, Chiro campus library and the recently commenced technology campus library are serving the university community. The constructions of two new libraries are under going for college of law and college of veterinary medicine, respectively. Constructions of these new buildings are important as they are a means to end.
