Haramaya University Hosts Strategic Panel on Enterprise Cybersecurity for Higher Education<\/h1>\n

The Haramaya University ICT Directorate successfully concluded the high-impact panel discussion on enterprise cybersecurity last Thursday, November 20, 2025.<\/p>\n

Organized under the theme \u201cTrends, Threats, and Strategic Opportunities for Higher Education Institutions,\u201d this half-day event brought together university leaders, faculty, and IT professionals committed to strengthening the institution\u2019s digital defenses.<\/p>\n

\"Trends,<\/p>\n

This discussion, held in the ICT Training Room, featured a guest presenter: Mr. Temesgen Molla, a Cybersecurity Consultant from Fortinet. He delivered in-depth sessions that directly addressed the dynamic challenges faced by academic institutions.<\/p>\n

\"Mr.<\/p>\n

Some important themes covered in the presentation of Mr. Temesgen were: the current landscape of cyber threats, and the need for adopting a Zero-Trust Architecture at universities; the future trends and predictions of cybersecurity during 2025; how to secure complex campus networks; case studies and live demonstrations of security solutions catering to the needs of the education sector; and the development of a strategic cybersecurity roadmap specific to Haramaya University.<\/p>\n

\"Trends,<\/p>\n

Dr. Milkyas Hailu, Director of the ICT Directorate at Haramaya University, highlighted that the program was interactive, comprising engaging sessions wherein participants addressed real-world challenges faced by the university community.<\/p>\n

“The importance of proactive cybersecurity measures in higher education simply cannot be overstated,” said Dr. Milkyas . “Key deliverables from this discussion included actionable recommendations and a shared commitment to immediate collaboration in critical areas, including staff security training, comprehensive security assessments, and overall capacity building.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Milkyas concluded by thanking Mr. Temesegen for his expert insights and all the speakers, facilitators, and participants for their contributions to the event’s resounding success.<\/p>\n

Participants greatly valued the timeliness and relevance of the content; many described the discussion as \u201ceye-opening\u201d and \u201cessential for the future security of our institution.\u201d<\/p>\n
