This year\u2019s theme targeted on the role of community\u2019s participation which has a significant role in preventing diseases such as rabies.<br \/>\nIn his opening speech, Dr. Yitagel Terefe, program coordinator and acting dean of CVM, said that various trainings and awareness creation sessions have been offered for community representatives from Harari and Oromia regional states and Dire Dawa City Administration. This year, a major focus was given by the College to tackle communicable diseases such as rabies, which can transmit from animals to human beings, he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-810\" src=\"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cvm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2022\/12\/512.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Yitagel Terefe\" width=\"523\" height=\"392\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cvm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2022\/12\/512.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cvm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2022\/12\/512-24x18.jpg 24w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cvm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2022\/12\/512-36x27.jpg 36w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cvm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2022\/12\/512-48x36.jpg 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 523px) 100vw, 523px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;line-height: 19.2pt;background: white;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">\u201cIn the past two years we were able to vaccinate 1,800 dogs and cats which are agents this communicable diseases by extending our services to places like Bate, Alemaya, Harar, and Dire Dawa with the help that we received from within the University and from partners such as World Health Organization,\u201d Dr. Yitagel explained.<br \/>\nIt was disclosed during the workshop that the College has a future plan to extend the awareness creation sessions and vaccination campaigns in nearby places like Kersa and Babile, which have requested such services to reach them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-811\" src=\"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cvm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2022\/12\/513.jpg\" alt=\"Participants\" width=\"519\" height=\"389\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cvm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2022\/12\/513.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cvm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2022\/12\/513-24x18.jpg 24w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cvm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2022\/12\/513-36x27.jpg 36w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cvm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2022\/12\/513-48x36.jpg 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 519px) 100vw, 519px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;line-height: 19.2pt;background: white;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">Two staff members of CVM delivered presentations concerning rabies and possible ways of prevention of the disease. A question and answer program among secondary school students was also part of the 252th World Rabies Day.
