{"id":1411,"date":"2019-07-17T21:08:44","date_gmt":"2019-07-17T21:08:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/?p=1411"},"modified":"2025-07-14T10:54:40","modified_gmt":"2025-07-14T10:54:40","slug":"haramaya-university-supported-leadership-training-to-selected-women-leaders-of-east-hararghe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/2019\/07\/17\/haramaya-university-supported-leadership-training-to-selected-women-leaders-of-east-hararghe\/","title":{"rendered":"Haramaya university supported leadership training to selected women leaders of east hararghe"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: justify\">Haramaya university supported leadership training to selected women leaders of east hararghe<\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Haramaya University, in collaboration with the Female Staff Association of the University and East Hararghe Zone\u2019s women organizations, conducted a leadership training for women leaders from 28 June to 4 July 2019 and from 9 to 14 July, 2019 in two rounds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1412 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/12\/231.png\" alt=\"leadership training\" width=\"600\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/12\/231.png 600w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/12\/231-300x102.png 300w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/12\/231-24x8.png 24w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/12\/231-36x12.png 36w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/12\/231-48x16.png 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">According to Mrs. Mulu Berhanu, Training Coordinator and staff member of College of Social Sciences and Humanities, \u201cThe training would enhance the skills and capacity of women in leadership and improve their effectiveness and increase their representations.\u201d Specifically, the training aimed at: developing the women\u2019s capacity to understand and examine contexts which influence their leadership (e.g., History of Oromo People Struggle and Gada System, Ethiopian Constitution, Federal System, and Civil Service Proclamations); developing women\u2019s knowledge and understanding of the different leadership styles including how and where each style can be used; understanding the influence of gender in women\u2019s leadership; deepening women\u2019s awareness of themselves as a leader for change; and promoting women\u2019s network across different sectors, to support and promote women as potential leaders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1413 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/12\/232.jpg\" alt=\"Mrs. Mulu Berhanu\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/12\/232.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/12\/232-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/12\/232-84x56.jpg 84w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/12\/232-24x16.jpg 24w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/12\/232-36x24.jpg 36w, https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/12\/232-48x32.jpg 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Equal engagement of men and women is vital for ensuring the development of any sectors and sustain equal benefits. However, at the sector level, where policy, resourcing, and planning are usually discussed and decided upon, there are very few women decision-makers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Knowledge of the influence gender has in women leadership is productive in both dispelling myths about the gender gap and shining a light on aspects of gender barriers that are difficult to see. Given that many women have had little experience for leadership, it is of utmost importance that training is made readily available to allow women to develop and fine-tune their leadership skills. Once in the position, women also benefit from leadership training to increase efficiency and ensure sustainability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1414 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/cssh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/12\/233.png\" alt=\"women also benefit from leadership training\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 579px) 100vw, 579px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Moreover, commitments to women\u2019s empowerment not only means enabling women to advance in all spheres of life but also building their capacity to fully and effectively participate as leaders and decision makers, thereby ensuring their influence in all aspects of development and their elevation in societies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">A total of 200 (two hundred) women leaders from all sectors and twenty districts of Eastern Hararghe participated in the 10 day training.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1415 size-full\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Dr. Jemal Yousuf, Acting President of the University, in his closing speech said that promoting gender equality through women\u2019s empowerment has become the major policy strategy to achieve human development, poverty eradication and economic growth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">He added that, such training \u00a0expands women\u2019s opportunities, enhances their capacity to full potential, contributes to more equal gender relations, and enables women contribute to the political and
