Haramaya University Advances Chemistry Postgraduate Curriculum to Meet National and Global Demands<\/h1>\n

Haramaya University\u2019s Department of Chemistry has undertaken a curriculum review of its Master\u2019s Degree programs in Organic, Inorganic, Analytical, and Physical Chemistry.<\/p>\n

The initiative, aimed at modernizing the streams, seeks to align postgraduate training with current market needs and industry manpower demands.<\/p>\n

The review workshop brought together colleagues from diverse disciplines, industries, and academic institutions, reflecting the University\u2019s commitment to collaborative and evidence-based curriculum development.<\/p>\n

Dr. Meseret Amde, Director of Academic Programs at Haramaya University, emphasized that as a leading research institution, the University is strengthening its postgraduate programs with rigor and foresight. \u201cCurriculum revisions should not only be academic in nature, but must also integrate the country\u2019s development plan, stakeholders\u2019 needs, and international influences,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

Dr. Seleshi Deme, Dean of the College of Natural and Computational Sciences, highlighted that the revised curriculum is designed to produce highly qualified graduates. He explained that the changes take into account the country\u2019s education roadmap, as well as societal, industrial, and international contexts.<\/p>\n

Representing the Oromia Agricultural Research Institute, Dr. Yared Merdasa emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating that strengthening postgraduate fields, such as chemistry, plays a vital role in producing graduates capable of contributing to research institutions and advancing scientific innovation.<\/p>\n

Dr. Zewedu Bezu, lecturer at Haramaya University, added that the curriculum review followed a rigorous internal evaluation process. \u201cThe national workshop has now provided an opportunity to refine the curriculum further. And the results will be incorporated into the final approval,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Through this curriculum modernization, Haramaya University reaffirms its dedication to producing graduates equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to address Ethiopia\u2019s development priorities and to compete in the global scientific arena.<\/p>\n
