The department in collaboration with the Spanish national research council (CSIC) have conducted training on\u00a0Porous Solids<\/h1>\n

The Department of Chemistry, College of Natural and Computational Sciences (CNCS) and Postgraduate Program Directorate in collaboration with the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) have conducted training on\u00a0Porous Solids<\/strong>\u00a0from April18-19, 2016 at Resource Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

The training was basically part of the project collaboration between Dr. Abi Taddesse from HU and Prof. Isabel Diaz from CSIC.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Mr.Zewdu<\/p>\n

According to the head of the Department of Chemistry, Mr.Zewdu Bezu,the aim of the training was to update with the recent advances in these materials involving synthesis, characterization with the state of the art technologies and applications of porous solids in the area of energy production and storage, environmental cleaning, food and agriculture and catalysis. In this training five Professors from the CSIC were involved.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"n<\/p>\n

In the two days training, a total of 80 individuals were involved. The trainees\u2019 composition by department mainly involves chemistry, physics and Soil Science. All academic staffs and postgraduate students of Department of Chemistry; MSc and PhD students from physics and Soils Science working on related area were also involved in the training.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Professor<\/p>\n

Professor Kebede W\/Tsadik Vice President for Community Engagement & Enterprise Development during his opening speech underlined the various applications porous solids have in domestic, industrial, pharmaceutical and agricultural sectors. He also added that the benefit of such training programs is very important especially for postgraduate students seeking clue on hot and recent research topics.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr.Getachew Abebe, dean of College of Natural and Computational Sciences, addresses in his closing speech that the college appreciates and supports such training programs not only because the topics deliberated on recent advances of porous materials and their applications but also because it creates avenues for further collaborations between Haramaya University and the Spanish National Research Council.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Finally,<\/p>\n

Finally, the training was closed by presenting certificates for the participants by Dr. Mengistu Urge, Director of the Postgraduate Program Directorate.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
