Haramaya university conducted first round induction training<\/h1>\n

First round induction training for newly employed and reinstated staff members of Haramaya University was given at resource center for 6 days from November 4 to 9\/ 2019.<\/p>\n

The induction training was organized and\u00a0conducted by the office of Vice-president for Academic Affairs in collaboration with College of Education and\u00a0Behavioral Sciences Higher Diploma Program Coordinating Office.<\/p>\n

According to Mr. Anwar Ahmed, HDP Coordinator, a total of 100 trainees who are from different colleges took part in the training .Mr. Anwar said that the University has been conducting this induction trainings since 2009 G. C with the goal of improving the professional competence of the University\u2019s staffs. \u201cThe training is vital for all participants as it can be used as traction to begin their roles and responsibilities as higher institution instructors,\u201d added Mr.Anwar<\/p>\n

Dr. Dawit Negassa, the dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, in his part, indicated that induction training is partof the CPD trainings organized by the University with the ultimate\u00a0purpose of equipping the newly employed and reinstated academic staff with pedagogical\u00a0skills they can utilize in discharging their roles as teachers.<\/p>\n

Dr. Dawit, in his turn, added that the objectives of the training were \u201cto acquaint the participants with the\u00a0vision and mission of the University; make them aware of the professional ethics of higher\u00a0education, introduce and help them identify and apply different active learning methods,\u00a0and to introduce them to the instructional planning and assessment techniques in their\u00a0teaching.\u201d \u201cIt is the University\u2019s principle not to let any staff to teach without\u00a0attending the induction program. Hence, it has been conducting induction trainings for the last\u00a0eight years,\u201d added Dr. Dawit.<\/p>\n

In the opening ceremony,\u00a0Professor Mengistu Urge, the Acting Vice-president for Academic Affairs said that subject\u00a0matter knowledge and skills of the fresh graduates are not enough to make them effective teachers.\u00a0Therefore, the trainees should be equipped with pedagogical knowledge and skills in order to play their roles as professional teachers even though effective teaching is a lifelong process as it need long years of \u00a0experience in the field, so we teachers should update ourselves every time to make our students efficient enough.<\/p>\n

After accomplishing the 6 days training, certificates were awarded for the trainees for successfully completion of the training.<\/p>\n
