The College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) and Information Communication Technology (ICT)Directorate , in collaboration with Community Based Education (CEB) Directorate, has Conducted training in the Basic computer skill training for Secondary and Preparatory School teachers working at 19 local Community schools from March 14 to April 02, 2016 at 11 training centers in three rounds.<\/p>\n

According to the Dean of College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) and Information Communication Technology directorate director (ICT), Mr.Seifu Neda and Mr.Tesfaye Guta, this training were identified based on the need assessment conducted by the committee comprising staffs from CCI, ICT directorate and CBE.<\/p>\n

In the three weeks training, a total of 182 teachers were participated. The participants were drawn from Kulubi, Lange, Kersa, Adele, Haramaya, Bate, Aweday, Babile, Bisidimo Kombolcha, secondary and preparatory schools.<\/p>\n

In addition to Basic computer skill training, the CCI & ICT Directorate provides an office equipment maintenance services to the schools. By this, l35Computers, 9 printers, 2 photocopiers were maintained. The estimated Basic computer skill training cost is 145600.00 and maintenance service cost is over 101,500.00 totally over 247100.00 were saved.<\/p>\n

On the last day of the training at University\u2019s Resource Center, University`s top managements, College deans, 19 schools directors and Woreda education bureau heads, trainees, and trainers met and discussed at length and way forwarded on the service provided related to ICT and improvements to be made in future.<\/p>\n

\u00a0In the discussion, Professor Kebede W\/Tsadik V\/P for community engagement & Enterprise Development stated that the training and the service provided is the part of outreach program which linked the University with the community, particularly in the education sector.<\/p>\n

Professor Nigusse Dechassa V\/P for Academic Affairs, address in his closing speech that the university will continue in playing key role to improve the quality of the education by identifying the skill gaps in schools. He requests school directors to work closely with the university in identifying problems and finding the solutions to the problems. He advises the trainees to adopt the training to their day to day activities so that they can be effective in ICT usage.<\/p>\n

The same services were given last year to seven schools (Adele secondary school, Haramaya secondary and preparatory school, Aweday secondary and preparatory school, Bate secondary school, Haramaya University Model school) by CCI and ICT directorate.<\/p>\n
