Africa Center of Excellence for Climate Smart Agriculture and Biodiversity Conservation Conducts Training<\/h1>\n

Five days training was conducted on Research Methodology and Scientific Writing from December 14-18, 2020 at the Resource Center, located in the Main Campus of Haramaya University.<\/p>\n

\"Professor<\/p>\n

Professor Nigussie Dechassa, former Vice President for Academic Affairs as well as former Leader of ACE Climate SABC at Haramaya University, developed course modules and successfully delivered the training.<\/p>\n

\"Dr.<\/p>\n

According to Dr. Tesfaye Lemma, Head of Training and Research Africa Center of Excellence for Climate Smart Agriculture and Biodiversity Conservation (Climate SABC) Haramaya University, the purpose of the training was to contribute towards ongoing efforts in the University to improve the relevance, quality, and productivity of research conducted by postgraduate students.<\/p>\n

\"Participants\"<\/p>\n

The event created a rare opportunity for early career researchers to share the experience and down to earth practical skills of the resource person who is a seasoned researcher.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A total of 39 postgraduate students who are currently pursuing PhD and MSc programs at ACE Climate SABC and in the other colleges of the University\u00a0 successfully completed the training and were awarded certificates.<\/p>\n

\"Participants\"<\/p>\n

The training involved lecture, group discussion and experience sharing sessions. A short discussion and reflection session was also conducted on the 5th day to solicit feedback before winding up the training.<\/p>\n

The participants reportedly found the training timely, relevant, and extremely useful to improve the relevance and quality of their research proposals as well as research output, including writing articles for publication on peer-reviewed scientific journals. In addition, the training increased awareness of the postgraduate students with regard to research ethics and issue of plagiarism and mitigation measures, among others.<\/p>\n
