{"id":27054,"date":"2026-06-23T08:18:41","date_gmt":"2026-06-23T08:18:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/caes\/?p=27054"},"modified":"2026-06-23T08:18:41","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T08:18:41","slug":"haramaya-university-launches-training-of-trainers-to-enhance-agricultural-extension-and-soil-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/caes\/haramaya-university-launches-training-of-trainers-to-enhance-agricultural-extension-and-soil-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Haramaya University Launches Training of Trainers to Enhance Agricultural Extension and Soil Health"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Haramaya University Launches Training of Trainers to Enhance Agricultural Extension and Soil Health<\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Haramaya University has officially launched a Training of Trainers program for agricultural extension professionals to improve agricultural productivity through sustainable soil health and conservation practices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-27378 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Dr.-Kedir-Ibrahim.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Kedir Ibrahim\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><br \/>\nThe initiative is organized under the project titled \u201cHuman Resource Capacity Building to Strengthen Soil Health-Based Agricultural Extension Services,\u201d a collaborative effort between Haramaya University and the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA).<br \/>\nThe training brings together agricultural extension experts and officials from the Dire Dawa City Administration, East Hararghe Zone, and Maya City.<br \/>\nIn his speech, Dr. Kedir Jemal, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at Haramaya University, emphasized that building the capacity of professionals is a vital first step toward institutionalizing a soil health-centered agricultural extension service.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-27379 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Haramaya-University-Launches-Training-of-Trainers.jpg\" alt=\"Haramaya University Launches Training of Trainers\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><br \/>\nEchoing his remarks, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed, Head of the Department of Rural Development and Agricultural Innovation at Haramaya University, explained that the core objective of the project is to ensure long-term, sustainable agricultural extension services rooted in soil health and safety.<br \/>\nAccording to Mr. Mohammed, this broader initiative spans five African countries. Haramaya University successfully secured the implementation rights to represent Ethiopia after winning a highly competitive continental selection process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-27380 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Haramaya-University-Launches-Training-of-Trainers-to-Enhance-Agricultural-Extension.jpg\" alt=\"Haramaya University Launches Training of Trainers to Enhance Agricultural Extension\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><br \/>\nWinning this project at a continental level demonstrates Haramaya University&#8217;s robust capacity and leading position in agricultural research and education, Mr. Mohammed stated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-27381 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.haramaya.edu.et\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Mr.-Mohammed-at-interview.jpg\" alt=\"Mr. Mohammed at interview\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><br \/>\nThe training is designed to create a ripple effect. Upon completing the program, participants are expected to return to their respective duty stations to transfer their newly acquired knowledge to peer extension workers and local farmers.<br \/>\nThe project is highly anticipated to make a significant contribution to the agricultural sector.
