PROGRAMS
1.
PhD Program in Plant Breeding
1.1. Admission requirements
• Master of Science degree in plant breeding, plant genetics,
agronomy, horticulture or other related sciences or an equivalent
degree from an accredited university;
• Candidates requesting for admission from fields other
than plant breeding may be required to take additional courses
to compensate for the deficiencies as per the recommendation of
Department Graduate Council (DGC) and approved by Council of Graduate
Studies (CGS).
1.2. Graduation requirements
To
be eligible for graduation all the PhD candidates must fulfil
the following requirements:
• Twenty-two credit hours of course work, with no “D”
grade in any course taken as well as not more than one “C”;
• Thirty credit hours of research work on which a dissertation
must be written;
• Letter of testimony from the supervisory committee;
• Successful defense of thesis;
• A Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00;
and
• A draft copy of at least one publishable paper from
the doctoral thesis research.
2.
PhD Program in Plant Pathology
2.1.
Admission requirements
• Master of Science degree in Plant Pathology, Crop Protection
or other related sciences or an equivalent degree from an accredited
university;
• Candidates requesting for admission from fields other
than Plant Pathology may be required to take additional courses
to compensate for the deficiencies as per the recommendation
of DGC and approved by CGS;

Graduation requirements
To
be eligible for graduation all the PhD candidates must fulfill
the following requirements:
• Twenty-two credit hours of course work, with no “D”
grade in any course taken as well as not more than one “C”;
• Thirty credit hours of research work on which a dissertation
must be written;
• Letter of testimony from the supervisory committee;
• Successful defense of thesis;
• A Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00;
and
• A draft copy of at least one publishable paper from
the doctoral thesis
research.

PhD Program in Agronomy/Crop Physiology
3.1. Admission requirements
•
Master of Science degree in agronomy/crop physiology, soil science,
horticulture or other related sciences or an equivalent degree
from an accredited university;
• Candidates requesting for admission from fields other
than agronomy/crop physiology may be required to take additional
courses to compensate for the deficiencies as per the recommendation
of DGC and approved by CGS;
3.2. Graduation requirements
To be eligible for graduation all the PhD candidates must fulfil
the following requirements:
• Twenty-two credit hours of course work, with no “D”
grade in any course taken as well as not more than one “C”;
• Thirty credit hours of research work on which a dissertation
must be written;

PhD Program in Soil Science
4.1.
Admission Requirements
• Master of Science in Soil Science or its equivalent
degree from an accredited university;
• Candidates seeking admission from other disciplines
may be required to take additional courses to compensate for
the deficiencies as per the recommendation of DGC and approved
by CGS;
4.2. Graduation requirements
To be eligible for graduation all the PhD candidates must fulfill
the following requirements:
• Twenty-two credit hours of course work, with no “D”
grade in any course taken as well as not more than one “C”;
• Thirty credit hours of research work on which a dissertation
must be written;
• Letter of testimony from the supervisory committee;
• Successful defense of thesis;
• A Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00.
and
• A draft copy of at least one publishable paper from

PhD Program in Animal Nutrition
5. 1. Admission requirements
• Master of Science degree in animal nutrition, animal production,
animal physiology, range management or other related sciences
or an equivalent degree form an accredited university;
• Candidates requesting for admission from fields other
than animal nutrition may be required to take additional courses
to compensate for the deficiencies as per the recommendation of
DGC and approved by CGS;
5.2. Graduation requirements
To be eligible for graduation all the PhD candidates must fulfil
the following requirements:
• Twenty-two credit hours of course work, with no “D”
grade in any course taken as well as not more than one “C”;
• Thirty credit hours of research work on which a dissertation
must be written;
• Letter of testimony from the supervisory committee;

PhD Program in Animal Genetics and Breeding
6.1. Admission requirements
• Master of Science degree in animal genetics/ breeding,
animal production, or other related sciences or an equivalent
degree form an accredited university;
• Candidates requesting for admission from fields other
than animal genetics / breeding may be required to take additional
courses to compensate for the deficiencies as per the recommendation
of DGC and approved by CGS.
6.2. Graduation requirement
To be eligible for graduation all the PhD candidates must fulfill
the following requirements:
• Twenty-two credit hours of course work, with no “D”
grade in any course taken as well as not more than one “C”;
• Thirty credit hours of research work on which a dissertation

7.
PhD Program in Agricultural Economics (Production/marketing)
7.1. Admission Requirements
• Master’s degree (or an equivalent degree) in agricultural
economics, agricultural marketing, economics, or other related
fields from an accredited university;
• Candidates requesting for admission from other fields
may be required to take certain pre-requisite/deficiency courses,
subject to approval by the Departmental Graduates Committee
(DGC) and CGS.
7.2 Graduation requirements.
To be eligible for graduation all the PhD candidates must fulfil
the following requirements:
• Twenty-two credit hours of course work, with no “D”
grade in any course taken as well as not more than one “C”;
• Thirty credit hours of research work on which a dissertation
must be written;
• Letter of testimony from the supervisory committee;
• Successful defense of thesis;
• A Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00.
and

8.
PhD Program in Soil and Water Engineering
8.1.
Admission requirements
• Master of Science degree in soil and water engineering
or equivalent degree from an accredited university;
• Candidates seeking admission from fields other than
soil and water engineering may be required to take additional
courses to cover their deficiencies;
8.2. Graduation requirements
To be eligible for graduation all the PhD candidates must fulfill
the following requirements:
• Twenty-two credit hours of course work, with no “D”
grade in any course taken as well as not more than one “C”;
• Thirty credit hours of research work on which a dissertation
must be written;
• Letter of testimony from the supervisory committee;
• Successful defense of thesis;
• A Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00.
and
