The School of Graduate Studies (SGS)

The shortage of skilled human resource is one of the major obstacles for the development of Ethiopia. In this regard, higher learning institutions are expected to play a leading role in training professionals that can serve in identifying causes of underdevelopment, and devising appropraite development options. Postgraduate study in agricultural sciences was initiated in 1979 at the then Alemaya College of Agriculture.

Objectives of Postgraduate Programs

To allivate professional academic and research staff shortage of the national agricultural colleges

To produce agricultural scientists and qualified researchers, who will be able to tackle and solve the prevailing overall agricultural problems of the nation, and

To train high-level manpower, which will be equipped with the necessary scientific known-how and leadership qualities for the different government institutions and development agencies.
