Call for Papers
The Haramaya University College of Law Environmental Policy Center, and Haramaya University College of Law Social Justice Center are pleased to announce a joint conference on:
“Subsistence Agriculture: Confronting Environmental Change and Social Justice”
The conference will endeavor to involve scholars, practitioners, activists, and officials from a broad array of academic, governmental, and non-governmental organizations. By bringing together these people, it is hoped that the conference can offer a perspective on these issues that is both wide-ranging and penetrating.
As such, the conference intends to offer presentations on research that is either ongoing or completed but unpublished, as well as presentations on field activities in the topic area. Specific areas for discussion might include, but are not limited to:
- The Relationship of Law and Sustainable Development
- International and Ethiopian Environmental Law and Policy
- Legal Mainstreaming of the Disadvantaged in Ethiopia
- Gender and the Environment
- Customary Environmental and Social Justice Practices
- The Relationship of Land Tenure to Environmental Protection and Social Development
If you would like to present completed, or substantially completed, research, please submit a soft copy of your paper, and an abstract of not more than 500 words, to one of the conference organizers listed below. If you would like to present ongoing research, simply submit an abstract of not more than 500 words, in soft copy, to one of the conference organizers listed below. We will notify you as soon as possible regarding the acceptance of your paper for the conference.
We anticipate holding the conference from April 23-25, 2010, on the Haramaya University campus. If your paper is accepted, Haramaya University will arrange accommodations and meals.
