HARAMAYA UNIVERSITY WELCOMED FIRST YEAR STUDENTS
Welcoming new entrants is becoming a common practice in Haramaya University. But what makes this year’s welcoming program especial is extending its destination from the university’s main gate to Addis Ababa and Adama bus stations.
A welcoming team consisting of three members went to Addis with the objective of facilitating conditions for students who come from different corners of the country to Addis and Adama and extend their journey to Haramaya University- University of their choice. The team which has committed, responsible and energetic members has successfully accomplished its mission in arranging cars that carry students from Addis to the main campus, negotiating on the transportation cost, and assisting student who were new to Addis. This, according to many students, has helped the new comers a lot in saving their money and reaching at the university without any mal-treatment.
The care and guidance given to the new entrants has also continued at Haramaya, in the main and Harar campuses. The Dean of Students and the Gender Office in collaboration with students from different clubs, the Office of Estate and Facility Management,
General Service and Property Administration, Campus Police, and other volunteers have jointly worked towards the assistance of theses students. The support given is from arranging cars to carrying students and their luggage from Haramaya to their dormitories. Doing so has impressed the family and made students feel at home.
In this academic year, the University has welcomed around 5000 first year students. Including the postgraduate, readmitted, mid-career, graduation failures, and tutored re-admitted female students, the total number may go to 6000.
