Haramaya University is a 55 years old University. The University
was re-organized under the Council of Ministers Regulation No.
198/1994 as Alemaya University of Agriculture. But up on addition
of new Faculties, it was renamed as Haramaya University
with Council of Ministers Regulation No. 123/2006, as of Feb.
2006.
The University is located at about 510 Km from Addis Ababa
in the Eastern Hararghe Zone at a distance of about 20 km and
40 km from the two nearby towns: Harar and Dire Dawa respectively.
