Faculty Of Technology

1. Establishment

The Faculty of Technology of Haramaya University was established in 2004 at the Dire Dawa campus of the University. It admitted 200 students; 100 in the Civil Engineering Department and 100 in the Electrical Engineering Department at its establishment. Currently, it has a student population of 260 in Civil and 240 in Electrical Engineering fields. The first batch will graduate in 2008.

2. Vision

To be a center of excellence in the discipline of Engineering and Technology.

3. Mission

To undertake teaching, research, and technology development in various fields of Engineering.

4. Academic Programs

The Faculty has two undergraduate regular programs: Civil and Electrical Engineering. The two programs are also run in the Continuing Education Program at Dire Dawa and Harar Centers.

5. Research

Under the Young Faculties Fund, the Faculty has proposed five research projects and got them approved. In addition, one technology transfer center has been proposed for DIF project and the procurement of the equipments is in process.

6. Future Plans

The Faculty is planning to launch other engineering programs: Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Water Resources Engineering.
