Haramaya University receives 2.7 million Birr for PhD Dissertation and Faculty Research
Haramaya University received a total of 2.7 million Birr from Sida, Swedish International Development Agency, to conduct 15 PhD Dissertation and 12 Faculty research projects, each worth 100,000 Birr.

CCI’s Discussion and Award Session Articulated as Exemplary
The College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) conducted the annual student-staff discussion and award session on January 4, 2011 in the Haramaya University auditorium on main campus.
“This session aims at inculcating the culture of transparency and a culture of working for common goals”, Adem Kedir, Dean? Of the CCI emphasized while introducing the agenda. He summarized the activities and accomplishments of the last year and said that the program also aims to motivate a culture of competition among students.

HU offers a Water Pump for Batie Community
HU spent 100,000 Birr to purchase and replace a water pump for farmers residing in Batie village located at the gate of the University main campus.
According to Dr. Kebede Woldetsadik, Vice President for Institutional Transformation and Community Engagement, representatives of Batie farmers came to HU and sought university support when they learned that their water pump no longer functioned.
“After considering the depth of the problem the University bought a new water pump and sent technicians to the village to install it so the farmers could get back to work as soon as possible.”

HU extends its Generous Hand to Light up a nearby Village
HU has recently promised 90,000 Birr to the Haji Kebele which is a small village north of the HU main campus. The fund will help cover the major expense for providing electricity to the village. The donation was promised in a brief meeting held at the President’s office on January 5, 2012.
