Scholarship Opportunity for Postgraduate Studies

As part of its effort, the University has currently planned to offer full board scholarship at Doctoral and Masters Degree level on competitive basis for female students who have financial constraints to pursue their postgraduate study as of 2010/11 academic year. Thus, interested female applicants fulfilling the criteria described below can apply to Haramaya University, School of Graduate Studies (SGS), or Addis Ababa Liaison Office from the date of this announcement up to September 05, 2010. Application forms and other relevant documents can be downloaded from the University web site.

PhD Applicants

• Master of science degree in Agriculture and related field of studies with cumulative GPA of 3.0 and above from accredited University

• Testimonial letter proving that the applicant has financial limitations to pursue postgraduate studies

• Testimonial letter proving that the applicant has served for 3 or more years in public institutions

• Submission of PhD dissertation research concept note in line with the identified research thematic areas of the University

• Letter of recommendation from 3 referees (2 from academic and 1 from employer)

Masters Applicants

• Successful completion of Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture or related field of studies with cumulative GPA of 2.5 and above from accredited University

• Testimonial letter proving that the applicant has financial limitations to pursue postgraduate studies

• Testimonial letter proving that the applicant has served for 2 or more years in public institution

• Willing to conduct master’s thesis research according to the identified research thematic areas of the University

• Letter of recommendation from 3 referees (2 from academic and 1 from employer)

• A pass in the entrance examination

N.B:

• Applicants are required to produce original and copy of the academic credentials

• Due to limited scholarship opportunity, entrance examination may be considered as one of the screening criteria for PhD applicants
